The Best Plant Based Restaurants in America

In the past, it was moderately difficult to find a restaurant that catered specifically to a plant-based diet. But as the idea of vegetarianism and veganism starts to catch on, there are more and more restaurant options available that cater specifically to the plant-based dieters of the nation. These are some of the best vegetarian and vegan restaurants in the United States (in no particular order):

The Best Plant Based Restaurants in America

Crossroads Kitchen(Los Angeles, CA)

The menu may be on the pricier side, but it is well worth it. The food is so inventive that many patrons don’t even realize they are looking at a plant-based menu. They also tote a full bar and “insprired cocktail menu”; they were the first in town to pair fancy cocktails with the plant-based theme.

Beyond Sushi(New York, NY)

The idea of eating sushi without fish may sound absurd, but this restaurant delivers imaginative and flavorful rolls that make one forget that they aren’t eating fish. The restaurant is run husband and wife duo, Chef Guy Vaknin and Tali. It’s plant-based and health conscious food. All of the fruits and vegetables are locally sourced and seasonal.

Ground Control(Chicago, IL)

Located in the Logan Square area this restaurant serves plant based versions of the savory comfort foods we all know and love. They have tofu buffalo wings, southern fried tofu, and their crown jewel, the Jibarito

Mana Food Bar (Chicago, IL)

This globally inspired restaurant is unique in the sense that it doesn’t go down the “faux meat” route. Susan Thompson and Jill Barron opened this restaurant to be inspired by Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and Asian cuisines. They have created a menu that consists solely of multicultural dishes that completely own their lack of meat. (Think spanikopita and saag paneer).

Plum Bistro(Seattle, Washington)|

This restaurant takes classic, meaty American dishes and makes them into delicious, plant-based meals. They are famed for their Mac ‘n’ Yease, which can appease even the most diehard of cheese fans. The restaurant touts a rustic, earthy atmosphere and is fully of wood, plants, and flowers.
